2.What is MS Project?
Microsoft Project (MSP, MSOP or WinProj) is a project management software program, developed and sold by Microsoft, which is designed to assist a project manager in developing a plan, assigning resources to tasks, tracking progress, managing the budget, and analyzing workloads.
Microsoft Project is a software application sold by Microsoft that provides project management tools to manage projects. The program, which has many different versions, allows users to:
Understand and control project schedules and finances.
Communicate and present project information.
Organize work and people to make sure that projects are completed on schedule.

3.Its Microsoft’s third Window-based application and is available currently in two editions, Standard and Professional; both editions are available either as 32 or 64bit options.
MS Project's proprietary file format is .mpp.
Project creates budgets based on assignment work and resource rates. As resources are assigned to tasks and assignment work estimated, the program calculates the cost, equal to the work times the rate, which rolls up to the task level and then to any summary tasks and finally to the project level. Resource definitions (people, equipment and materials) can be shared between projects using a shared resource pool.

4.Why Use MS Project?

juggle dozens of functions and hundreds of tasks,
stay on budget, meet deadlines, and keep everyone from team members to stakeholders informed along the way.
In addition, charts and schedules must be made, milestones reached, and progress monitored.
MS Project help in:
developing and managing schedules,
allowing project managers to work more productively right away,
leverage existing data through integration with Microsoft Office,
communicate more effectively,
build professional diagrams and charts,
gain more control over finances,
access required information faster, and
track projects more efficiently.
