1. What is MATLAB? MATLAB stands for “MATrix LABoratory”. MATLAB is a tool for doing numerical computations with matrices and vectors. It is very powerful and easy to use. It integrates computation, graphics and programming in the same environment.

2. Matlab basic elements:- Array: A collection data values organized into rows and columns and known by a single name.

3. Arrays: The fundamental unit of data in MATLAB. Scalars are also treated as data in MATLAB (1 row and 1 column) Row and column indices of an array start from 1. Arrays can be classified as vectors and matrices.

4. Vector: Array with one dimension Matrix: Array with more than one dimension. Size of an array is specified by the number of rows and the number of columns ,with the number of rows mentioned first.(For example: n x m array) total number of elements in an array is the product of the number of rows and the number of columns.

5. Variables: A region of memory containing an array, which is known by a user-specified name. Contents can be used or modified at any time. Variable name must begin with a letter, followed by any combination of letters, numbers and the underscores (_) character. Only the first 31 characters are significant. The MATLAB language is Case Sensitive.JOHN,john,John are all different variables.

4.SLAB YARD
The space used for stacking slabs is specified as slab yard. It is generally nearer to the furnace. So that minimum conveyer time is required for feeding in the furnace.

WORK CARRIED IN SLAB YARD
Unloading the slab coming from outside.
Stacking the slab according to its specification.
Coding the slab.
Provide slab to the furnace on time.

5.  In Walking Beam Furnace there are total 6 cylinders, 2 for transferring and 4 for moving the movable beams. Two types of beam are there in furnace on which slab are kept inside furnace (1) Fix (2) Movable
The Furnace has 3 heating zone.
Pre-heating zone (750°C)
Heating zone (1130°C)
Socking zone (1230°C)
The Exhaust gases are discharged through chimney having a height of 82 meter.
The Charging and Discharging machine have 6 Hydraulic Arms.
For Charging and Discharging of slab to be used in Plate 1 Arm is used.
For Charging and Discharging of slab to be used in Coil 3 Arm is used.
The forward backward motion of Charging/Discharging machine is obtained by Rack & Pinion mechanism driven by Electric Motor.
Pipelines used for carrying different substances in furnace as well as in plant are classified as follow:

6.DESCALING PROCESS
Primary Descaler

located just after RHF, used to remove scale formed on the surface of slab during heating charging) in RHF

40T Descaler

Used as an auxiliary Descaler, used to remove scale, if not removed properly by primary descaler, or when the primary descaler is under maintenances.

Mill Secondary Descaler

used to remove the carbon scale formed during online rolling when coming in contact with atmosphere.

7.TURN TABLE
Turn Table

The entry table has the function of turning the slab/plate through 90° in addition to their normal mill reversal slab/plate transportation duty.

The turning action is achieved by driving alternate rollers in the opposite direction; the roller barrels being tapered for one half and parallel for the other half, with alternate rollers having the tapered half at opposite ends.

8.Vertical edger is a machining station in the process line, whose work is to do – “edging” of the slab, i.e. width control of material

9.Plastic deformation of  steel between two rolls, where its thickness is decreased & length is increased by applying controlled rolling load & torque. This mill has four rolls, two  work rolls and two  back-up rolls. The work rolls get in touch with rolled material and reduce its thickness.

10.As, coil length is much more than that of plate, so area of its heat loss is much more than and there can be temperature drop
Steckle furnaces helps to maintain its temperature during its rolling and regain its temperature

WEB BASED MANUFACTURING Presentation Transcript:
1.WEB BASED MANUFACTURING

2.INTRODUCTION
With the advent of the World Wide Web (www), information distributed at different location can be accessed and shared by users anywhere in the world using Web tools such as Web-browsers.
The Web technologies have been applied widely in developing manufacturing systems such as marketing, design, process planning, production, customer service etc. distributed at different locations into an integrated environment.

3.WHY WEB BASED MANUFACTURING?
Capturing global audience
The users of a manufacturing system can be in any part of the world and therefore it is vital that the system should be widely acceptable.
The web based manufacturing instead of developing customized client - server architecture depends on well defined and seasoned client-server architecture running on the internet, which is the www, to serve application logic in the form of Java applets, which provide platform independent means of accessing the system

4.HANDLING DATA LOSS AND OUT OF ORDER  DELIVERY OF  DATA:
When the web has been chosen as platform for development of the system, it should be noted that the application layer of web, HTTP runs over the transport layer protocol, TCP which provides reliable (connection-oriented) in order byte stream data transfer takes care of the problem associated with data loss and out of order delivery of data.
COORDINATING MULTI-USER ACCESS
The nature of operation of some operation in mfg. system such as drilling is such that only one client should have full control over the drilling machine at any given time. Due to this restriction, coordination of multi-user access is vital in ensuring fairness of use and safe operation of the machining unit.

5.REDUCED SUSCEPTIBILITY TO TEMPORAL COMMUNICATION DELAYS:
An important consequence of deciding against real time direct control of the machining unit is that susceptibility of the proposed system’s performance is reduced, thus addressing the uncertain time delay problem

6.FRAMEWORK OF WEB BASED MANUFACTURING

7.Web pages embedded with JAVA applets provide an interface for the operations. Using the web interface, the authorized remote clients (first tier) provide machining parameters which are relayed to the web server.
The machining parameters upon reaching the server (middle tier) constitute a part-program which is stored in a job file scheduled for execution of machining process
The machining operation is monitored by the network camera, which is a part of the middle tier providing real time feedback to the remote user.

8.In addressing security issues pertaining to the web based manufacturing system, the firewall is the first line of defense in restricting unauthorized access to the server and therefore the drilling machine
In addition to this, the web server authenticates users prior to granting permission to submit jobs, monitor the machining process or participate in virtual discussion
Finally all the sensitive communication between the client and the server is carried over TLS (Transport Layer Security) thereby ensuring confidentiality, data integrity and server authentication

9.MODULAR ARCHITECTURE OF THE WEB BASED MANUFACTURING SYSTEM

10.JOB SUBMISSION
The process of job submission requires coordinated interaction between the client and the server. On the client side is a JAVA applets responsible for reading and validating input machining parameters prior to encoding and sending it over to the server

The web server receives the machining parameters posted via CGI, sets up necessary environment variables and executes the CGI script responsible for storing machining parameters in a job file, adding the job file to the scheduling system and then notifying the machine controller about the presence of the job file in the queue.

Finally the user is informed about the status of the job submission by means of a job ID uniquely identifying their job.

6. VIBRATION
Vibration refers to oscillatory motions of solid bodies. A simple vibrating system is represented by a weight suspended on a spring and set into an up and down motion.

Mechanical Oscillations produced by regular or irregular movement of a body around its resting position

A Cycle of Specific Activity Back-Forth, Up and Down Resulting from Reversal of Energy.

Exposure to vibration can occur while using Power tools or while Driving equipment
7.Vibration can be:
Whole-Body Vibration (WBV) - where the vibration is transmitted to the body as a whole by its supporting surface (i.e. seat or floor);

Segmental - where the vibration is transmitted to a specific segment of the body such as the hand/arm or foot/leg.

8.Vibration Response
It Depends on Many Factors :
Frequency
Amplitude
Vibration Exposure
Direction of Vibration
Point of Application
How Much Vibration is Transmitted
Effect of Clothing and Equipment
Body Size (Height and Weight)
Body Posture/ Tension

9. Body Vibration
Body resonates at a Natural Frequency
Each Body Segment tends to have Different Natural Frequency

Nature of Body Vibration
    - Free or Natural Vibration
    - Forced or External Vibration

Problems arise when frequency of an External Vibration Source equal to Natural Frequency
